Abstract

Along with the progress in biological structures modeling and simulating their development, the visualization of simulation results develops and this leads to a better understanding of morphogenesis and launches new procedural techniques for realistic image synthesis. The application of fractals is extremely useful both for the measurement of the dimensional properties and spatial parameters of the unregularly biological structures, as well as for understanding of the structural/morphological organization of the living tissues and organs.

This article proposes a fractal model of human lung and an algorithm for 3D visualization of this model is presented.
